Straight Outta Compton (2015) full movie download

The group NWA emerges from the mean streets of Compton in Los Angeles, California, in the mid-1980s and revolutionizes Hip Hop culture with their music and tales about life in the hood.

Director:

F. Gary Gray

Writers:

Jonathan Herman (screenplay), Andrea Berloff (screenplay)

Stars:

O'Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell

Storyline

In 1987, five young men, using brutally honest rhymes and hardcore beats, put their frustration and anger about life in the most dangerous place in America into the most powerful weapon they had: their music. Taking us back to where it all began, Straight Outta Compton tells the true story of how these cultural rebels-armed only with their lyrics, swagger, bravado and raw talent-stood up to the authorities that meant to keep them down and formed the world's most dangerous group, N.W.A. And as they spoke the truth that no one had before and exposed life in the hood, their voice ignited a social revolution that is still reverberating today. Written by Universal Pictures

More than just a biopic. Compton will leave you revved like a '64.
I've seen a lot of forgettable films this year. Straight Outta Compton isn't one of them.

Even if (like me), you're not too familiar with the West Coast hip hop scene, the fact that N.W.A are still relevant twenty years on is reason enough to check out their story. Directed by Gary Gray (Friday, The Italian Job), the film follows friends O'Shea 'Ice Cube' Jackson (played by his son O'Shea Jackson Jr), Andre 'Dr Dre' Young (Corey Hawkins) and Eric 'Eazy-E' Wright (Jason Mitchell), who dream of breaking out of 1980's Compton, Los Angeles and becoming rap stars.

You'll leave the cinema pumping your fists, downloading N.W.A's entire back catalogue and questioning whether the racist, violence-fuelled world the group was born from has really changed much at all.

Focusing on the relationship between Reggie Kray and Frances Shea, told from France's' point of view as someone who knew him best, as well as the mental health issues Ronnie Kray faced and their rise to power as the notorious gangsters of London.

Super Smash Bros
Legend is a slightly strange title, in whichever sense the word is used. The Krays are the only celebrity criminals in British history; but that is because you can steal more money in legitimate business. Tom's twin turn is superb, but the script doesn't allow for too many fireworks - occasionally Ron comes into his own.

The film chooses the popular string of scenes style, which tries to reduce the narrative to a comic strip. But there isn't enough drama to sustain this. The choice of scenes was clearly dictated by how costly it would be to make them look OK. Authenticity isn't attempted, which seems reasonable as the audience probably would consider it costume drama otherwise.

Unsurprisingly the film falls to either focus on actual events very closely or being a serious gangster genre film. So we don't get Scarface - and I would recommend re- watching that instead.

Bryan Cranston is back
In theory, "Trumbo" is an incredible true story that should be prime fodder for a great movie. Cranston has his moments and you have to laud his attention to detain in channeling Trumbo's unique voice and mannerisms. Unfortunately, he's so committed that his character borders on being a caricature. "Trumbo" works well enough as a general survey of Trumbo's life and career, a primer on a complicated man who endured a terrible injustice, but it fails to really engage with the material, to dig deep for significant themes and salient meanings. At one point in the film, a producer lam-basts Trumbo for turning in a script that lacks genius -- the same could be said of "Trumbo" the film, which meets the bare minimum for these sorts of outings, despite a wealth of essential material. All I Will Say In Short It's a Must Watch Movie.

Steve Jobs was the typical childish egomaniac asshole "genius"
If you're truly enlightened, you realize it soon in your life, but if you're a great human being, you remain humble about it and that's ironically the crow of great people IMO, they could be show-off pathetic and ridiculous clown like Steve Jobs but they don't, because they're emotionally smarter than that, they take things in a simple way, and I think that's so because they care more about humanity and be in harmony with humans sharing whatever talent each can contribute to our species than playing the "I am the unacknowledged genius" victim crap, the guy was a ruthless ars-hole so I'm glad he died from Cancer, he deserved every bit of it; eat crap and die ars-hole!

Black Mass is a decent film, but it could have been great.

'Black Mass' is another is a line of crime dramas set in Boston. The film will inevitable be compared to 'The Departed.' And it falls short in the comparison. The acting is top rate, and Depp is much better, not as hammy, than the comic portrait of a crime boss by Nicholson in 'The Departed.' Depp is genuinely threatening in the film and the make-up job given him in the film adds to the fright.

'Black Mass' has the look of a 70s television show, and that works in its favor. In fact, the overall look of the film is exquisite. That, and the acting, are the two best things in the film. However, the movie is both too much and not enough.

'Black Mass' tries to cover too much and thus it lacks focus. This is where 'The Departed' succeeds. While 'The Departed' has many layers and character, it has a focus: the Southie, Billy. 'Black Mass' doesn't have a main theme, a main character, a main protagonist or antagonist. There are a bunch of characters in tense situations with some irony and symbolism. However, in the end, there is nothing to hold onto, no lessons, no emotions, love or hate, for any characters.

As I was watching, both my film buddy and I thought the same thing: Scorsese could have made this story work with his writing and directing. We also thought that in an era of long- form television that it could have made a great 10-20 episode show. Then it could have gone into depth about the childhood relationships between crime boss Bulger, his FBI friend Connolly and Whitey's brother, State Senator Billy Bulger.

As miniseries, it could have more deeply explored the racial tensions between the Irish and Italians with the African Americans stuck in the middle. It could have taken a deeper look into Boston politics and corruption, police corruption, and more. The miniseries could have also gone further into the Irish American funding of the IRA. As it was, it touched on each of those issues in an unsatisfactory fashion. If the film had taken a deeper look into any ONE of those themes, it would have made for a better movie.

Rating: Matinée

For the great look and outstanding acting, I suggest you see it on the big screen. Otherwise, wait for the miniseries. Hey, a man can dream.

Peace, Tex Shelters
